Project Background
Alchemista
A next-generation materials informatics solution designed to speed up R&D processes and reduce costs by enabling companies to share sensitive data related to chemical and material development in a confidential but computable state.

Key Features
-
Secure Computing technology based on homomorphic encryption makes data linkage between companies possible while the data kept secret.
-
A machine learning model is built while data is in an encrypted state allowing simulation of materials development.
-
Optimal experimental conditions are calculated by inverse analysis to obtain the target physical properties.
Product Enhancements
The transition from the Proof of Concept (PoC) and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) versions to the production version of our collaborative materials informatics platform has brought forth valuable insights and user feedback, prompting us to address several critical enhancements.

One notable improvement involves the incorporation of an super admin and project manager role within the system. This addition caters to the client's need for more granular control and detailed oversight of projects. To support this enhanced role functionality, additional project information is now displayed, providing a comprehensive view of project dynamics.

Furthermore, the need for support for multiple suppliers within a single project. This enhancement facilitates a more inclusive and collaborative approach, allowing diverse suppliers to contribute to and benefit from shared projects. Additionally, recognizing the diverse security needs of users, we are introducing the capability for both encrypted and decrypted workflows, providing flexibility based on user-specific use cases. This ensures that sensitive information remains secure while accommodating the varied needs of different collaborators.

Finally, an essential aspect of our system's evolution involves the integration of Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) technology. This security measure enhances the protection of sensitive data, ensuring its integrity and confidentiality throughout the collaborative materials innovation process.
My Role
The Alchemista team includes, 1 project manager, 1 AI engineer, 2 full-stack engineers, 1 encryption engineer, 1 materials informatics researcher, and myself as the designer.

As the lead designer for Alchemista, I am in charge of creating the UI based on client specifications and industry research. At the same time I have to be aligned witht the engineering team, PM and other supporting members to ensure that implementation can be matched with our homomorphic encryption engine, TEE environment, and data structure.
What I'm Doing
Vision crafting
Collaborating with the project manager and the engineering team to put together the POC feedback, and conceptualize the vision for the production version of the platform.
Validation discussions
Ongoing discussions with the engineering team to validate design ideas and technical feasability.
Design
Based on all the findings I in the current phase of designing new user flows, wireframes, mock ups and prototypes.
Client discussions
Discussions with PoC customers to get their feedback and align as much as possible with their vision of the MI platform.
